This week, we had the chance to love on four boys: two teens, twins; two very young, barely past toddler stage. We've known one for a while and have invested in him through good and bad. He is now bringing the brothers - we're safe. Their not. They lack dad's, tender touch of a mom, time by an adult for them. They lack mentoring, direction and boundaries. They are surprisingly adjusted, but the holes are huge and obvious to us.
That night, Susanne cried afterward, Chad and Cindy were up LATE talking, lying in bed staring into the dark. I ponder, get mad, try and plot solutions, etc...
As the night went on, the little ones, not accustomed to bed times, or a routine, groped for the attention they received from Cindy and Susanne. You could see the little ones cherishing the time when Susanne laid with them and read to them.
Not as many "sermons being preached" these days, but being like Jesus was always simple...in my Bible anyway. :-) Some are harsh on us, strong feelings about us being set aside to do this mission, this striving to be Jesus to them. Please take the time and read Sam's contribution in the blog previous. This is what and why... IF we were working full time, we simply would not have time to love them like this, as others have long lined up for our energy, time and resources.
We "get to" have the space because so many sacrifice to free us up, so we can "be like Jesus". What a privilege. Pray for these guys, pray for us, pray for our opportunities to love them more.
Pax.

what's really heartbreaking to me is that some "christians" can't understand how beautiful what you're doing truly is.
