Do you believe this is God's judgment?

The rain and floods on the Mid-west is God's judgment. You know it's true. God is judging them for their greed, wealth, bigotry, national religion mingled with the true and living God.
Does this sound like crap! It does me too. So, why the heck did I write it???
Because no Christian pastors are saying it!
Because no Christian pastors are saying it!
Why the heck would I write this and why does it sound like crap "because Christian pastors are NOT saying it"????
Simple... It is what WAS said and IS said by pastors and Christians all over the US regarding the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. I heard it just last month while on a 3 day get-a-way for our anniversary. I heard it this month from a friend in - wait for it - Texas. I heard it from Christians in Georgia last week.... Contempt, judgment, prejudice and disdain for New Orleans, for the people, for the poor, for the complete lack of understanding of the situation to their lack of mercy for the peoples' plight... AND people still say it was judgment on New Orleans.

I also heard it after the Tsunami in Southeast Asia - judgment on the Buddhists and the Muslims.... I heard it with the quakes in China.... I heard it with the war in the middle east...
So, if it is judgment on the middle east, then are we the modern Babylon... remember her judgment. Hmm...
BUT, stop - ask why the Christians and Christian pastors are not declaring this judgment on the Mid-west! Why? Why? Why?
Can I guess?
1. White
2. Middle Class
3. Smaller cities and towns
4. Protestant
5. Republican
No? Conspriracy theory gone nuts? Then why is it not said about this disaster? They are in the same geographical situation as New Orleans: land that has flooded over and over in history...
I'll be waiting to see if the President declares a national disaster, to see if the 10% FEMA contribution is waived to access federal money. I'll be waiting to see how the church responds.
Where is the mercy, the character, the nature, the desire for healing for this city? We pray that the people in the mid-west are not forgotten, and treated like NOLA has been... yet, if our prayers are answered and the nation responds... it will be a knife through the heart for the people here, a hurt cutting even deeper, just when NOLA is beginning to stand up again.
Where's my mercy for these people? Don't worry - the people here get it. As I watched the national news on CBS tonight, it reminded me of this very neighborhood where I'll soon sleep: a sea of yellow scoopers, claws, bull dozers, 18-wheel trucks carrying away the entire lives of people in a moment. I watched a year's worth of garbage in one day: photos, books, clothes furniture, walls, insulation, windows, carpets, appliances, toys, cars... The people here can't watch it - it is still too close to home. The people here are not bitter to these people, not the way some were imbittered towards the people here. No, NOLA cried with our friends up river. We KNOW their pain. We pray and empathize with the reality you return to. As bad as our reality? No - but total loss, no flood insurance because it wasn't supposed to flood... we know what that feels like.
We're praying for you, friends, and no; none of us believes your misfortune is judgment. The natural disasters, spawns of a contaminated creation, well, its just one more implication. God hates sin because He knows the implications.
